Lift recommendation
So I am currently running 35" duratracs with the teraflex leveling kit, (2" up front 1" in the back) with bushwacker flats on my jku and once I get the beast regeared I am looking to lift it higher. The jeep is still my daily so unfortunately I wont be able to hop up to anything extreme
but am still looking to bump it up. Do I go with a 3" lift that way I can keep the stock drive shaft orrrrrrr? Open to other recommendations

I've been happy with Old Man Emu 2.5" spring lift and nitro shocks. Firm but not harsh. Lift is actually 3"+ depending on your curb weight. Clears 35's just fine.
I recommend soft or medium coils, the HD coil's are designed for Overlanding rigs with a thousand pounds or more of extra cargo weight and a trailer.
This is my 4th Jeep, I've bought the same suspension set up for every one. I'll do the same for #5.

Open and read the two threads stuck right to the top of this modified area. Lots of good info on lifting, lift heights vs tire size, backspacing, specific problems that come with added height and the components to correct them, etc, etc.

Crawling underneath and checking for split boots and grease splatter should be part of your normal maintenance, even now with a leveling kit. There is no specific height that guarantees you will or will not have a problem with the driveshaft joints. It just gets more likely the higher you go.
Anyway, after reading through those threads and getting a handle on the issues, you might go down to JK Show & Tell and browse a bunch of pictures to get a better idea of how specific lift height / tire size combos look. (35's with 3+" coils and flat flares leaves quite a bit of empty wheel well space...)

out of curiosity, why are you looking to go higher? You are on the right track with the leveling kit and flats for 35"-ish tires. Any higher and you really should start factoring caster correction, track bars, steering correction (if around 3"), front driveshaft, brake lines, etc.. FWIW, I'd find a take-off rubi suspension and shock extensions to install with your leveling kit...but thats just me.
