Default Lift/Tire Advice

Hey Everyone,

I bit the bullet and am putting on a rough country suspension lift when it gets here next week. I'm putting 2.5" in front and 2" in the back. From reading other forums, I'm worried this might be a bigger project since I'm wanting to put 35's on also. I'm seeing warnings about not having enough power, possible brake wear that leads to malfunction, and having to adjust gear ratio. Can someone break this down barney style for me with a crayon so I'll understand what I need to run the lift and 35's?

On a side note, I'm leaning towards 17x12.5 wheels. Pro's or Con's from the guys that have been doing this for a while would also be appreciated. Happy Jeeping,

Drew

12.5" WHEEL? how wide are your tires gonna be. 8-10" wide wheel seems to be the consensus for 12.5" wide tires

This is what I'm going for. I took a pic of a buddy's jeep. I think I'm mixing my tire and wheel sizes up.

Yeah the tires are 12.5". I don't think you want more than 10" wide wheels for 12.5" tires. I got 15x8 wheels for my 35x12.5x15 tires

My gear ratio is 3.21 on my 2013 2 Door Sport.

The tire and wheel thing is confusing me a little. I was thinking that I needed to match the width of the tire to the wheel. From the example you used though, that doesn't seem to be the case? Is there a trick to figuring out how to match tires to wheels and visa versa?

With a 2013 and 3.21s it will be OK... not great, but ok.

Like I said, 8-10" wheel for a 12.5" wide tire

Will do, and thanks man.

If I wanted to maintain the same power/speed, what would I have to do with my gear ratio? And, is it expensive/complicated?
