Default Locker defeat

I came across these on the off road engineering website. Allows you to mount locker switches on your Rubicon where ever you want them and allows you to run them in 2wd and 4hi as well. I emailed them and they cost $79.95 for the whole kit. It's all done with easy tap connectors so install seems pretty simple.

Frigg'n Awesome!

I already e-mailed them asking if they'll offer the same set up for the Rubicon e-swaybar disconnect as well!

It's nice to see when vendors offer different things.

Great product!

What is the benefit of running locked in 4hi and 2wd?

2wd for doing donuts I'm guessing? Maybe drifting, lol!?! Can't imaging doing donuts or drifting with my 3.8!

And locked in 4hi I can't imagine why someone would want that. I know there is a reason, please educate me!

Let's see.

Ok, you're out actually wheeling and you break a rear axleshaft but still on the trail and trying to get out. You don't want to strees your rear any more than necessary so you lock your front and leave your rear open. Oops! Can't do that with the factory configuration. The same could be said if you destroy your rear DL on the trail and need to get out in FWD. A locker would help her as well but you could probably fake the system by running both lockers, however that would put more load on your front end becuase the rear wheels weren't able to act independantly.

The main benefit of individual controls/switches for me would be to get off the trail when breakage occurs. I like the idea here but I run dual ARB's currently that can each be individually controlled (just like this product).

A locker in the rear in 2h could be used for logging road runs in the snow though I wouldn't do it.

I don't run both lockers in 4-hi, so I wouldn't use that feature.

I want the e-swaybar to have a switch like this so I'm not forced to reconnect at 18mph. That's what I asked this vendor for.

That would be a fun episode of top gear - watching Ken Block try to drift a 2011 JKU!

4hi- Locked = Snow

This is especially benificial with the 4:1 transfer case, way to low for high speed snow wheeling.

I can personally attest to that statement. The superchips flashpaq I have allows you to do this, but you must use the flashpaq to engage the lockers and disengage. It would be nice if the buttons worked, but I see them trying to negate liability from people doing stupid stuff.

I did not know that! Thanks for the heads up. I'd been upset if I bought a flashpak and had to keep it plugged in to run the lockers in 4hi
