Locker Suggestions?
I'm ready to buy a locker for my JK, but I don't have any experience with them. What is the best thing out there for the JK? Air locker, electric locker? Something that works all on it's own? Please tell me what you guys have had the best luck with. I'm probably going to start with the rear first. I have an 08 X modle 2 door with a 4" lift and 35" tires. Is it best to start with the rear? I can only afford to do one axle right now. I will be running 4.88 gears.
I have a 6 speed and was already planning on 4.88's. I just don't know much about the lockers but I want to do it at the same time I regear. Is there only one type of Detroit Locker for the JK? Anything else I need to know?

When driving in the snow, in 4WD, easy on the throttle.
When driving in 2WD, on dry pavement, don't power around a corner, go easy on it.
If you hear a BANG from time to time, don't worry, it's the Detroit locking up.
When in 4L, have fun!

Also remember your rear has limited slip factory. You may be better off locking the front if you are going to do one at a time. I have an Aussie I installed in the front when I did my gears and it works great. I have 5:13's and a 6 speed and I love them. Really woke up that piss ant mini van engine...

I don't want the headaches of air lines being cut, solenoids not working, actuators failing, etc.etc.etc. that I've seen SOO many people encountering. Rear is locked 24/7. Front is locked when I engage the transfer case. Done. On the road, I'll be easy when it snows and around turns, where the Detroit shows it's face mainly. Other than that...
The Detroit site has warnings about using their locker on the street in some situations. Their are times when being locked is very dangerous.
I suggest you do some more homework before your purchase.

Detroits are terrible on a daily driver. ARB is the way to go. You can literally turn them on for off the road and turn them off for on the road. They are the more expensive option, but they are reliable and easy to use. Not to mention, they don't have any of the driving pops and hassles of the Detroits.
I was also looking into the Ox lockers, but the cable system can be hard to maintain, from what I understand. Detroit lockers are good for a dedicated trail rig, IMO.
Look at TrueTrac, I think its called, and the Ected lockers. Ecteds, I think are basically, the E-locker used on the Rubis. Yes/No?
For my money, I am holding off for ARBs when I regear
