Default LOD tire carrier problems??

Anyone have any issues with the spindle on the lod becoming almost impossible to turn? To swing open the gate takes some wheaties and there is an awful screach. Is it just rust? Take apart and sand the possible rust off? Any other possibilities? If it is rust, is there a chemical that would be good to help clean it off? Thanks for the input.

Id take it apart and have a look. If it is rust then maybe some fine sand paper or a wire brush.

What generation carrier do you have?
How old is it?
Have you been greasing the spindle?

Gen 3 linked. About 7 months. Greased twice, guessing that is the issue

I just put mine on a week ago. It took a lot of grease to fill that thing up. I did cover the spindle with grease during the install too. Maybe your grease didn't reach the top?
I sure hope it is something that simple.

Hi. How do you find the linked setup? I'm considering it. I have seen the ARB linked version but boy it is complex.

I put grease in it last night, nearly a whole tube of white lithium and swung it back and forth. It scheeched soemthing awful. Tonight I went out and opened it up and it was silent and swung freely. I pumped the rest of the tube in there for good measure, It is still not coming out the bottom but that looks like the answer, I need to grease it more frequently. I will probably still take it apart and make sure everything is kosher. I filled it up during the install, I guess I ahd just not been putting enough in there

I really like the linked system. It is the quietest carrier I ahve ever had. The only rattle I have si from the hi lift jack mounted on it, but thats not the carriers fault

I have a Gen3 non-linked. Owned it about 1.5-2 years now. Greased it about 3 times, when it starts squeaking I grease it!

I don't know what Gen mine is but I've had it about 2.5 years. I greased it on install. It started to get harder and harder to open, to the point it was almost comical watching me push it open. I greased it. Once. It's been fine ever since.
