Default looking for advice ... local shop says.....

I went to my local off road shop looking for a 2.5- 3" lift... they tried selling me a spacer kit. I was not really looking for that so they tried selling me just some springs. told me that 2.5 " springs would work fine with my stock shocks... and that I don't need anything else to run 35" tires.
I always thought the stock shocks wouldn't be long enough travel for the longer springs? Am I off base?
It was a rough country lift they were selling...Any opinions on that? They sell a lot of them, said all the springs from different manufacturers are all made by the same company.
rough country lifts seem to be priced below many other companies. ?

Time to find a new shop?

Nothing wrong with spacer lifts, many people run them with no issues. Other people find themselves selling the BB and swapping to some form of coil lift. personal preference.

You can run new coils and nothing else, but most people do actually want other components as well. Again, personal preference. Have you opened and read the thread stuck right to the top of this modified area? That goes over a few items that may be of interest, including what the extra components actually do.

With taller coils, yes, the shocks will be extended at normal ride height. This will limit the downtravel, but give more uptravel. A set of shock extensions is relatively cheap, if you don't want longer shocks. Also, be sure you bumpstop accordingly.

RC - yes, their lifts are priced low. Some people are happy, others are not. Right back to personal preference and individual likes/wants/needs. There is obviously a huge market for this price point, but ...

I would be afraid the shocks would hit their max extended length too often and end up ruining the shocks. And if you do decide to go with longer shocks or extensions you will need sway bar links as well.

Not really anyones kits include limit straps so really anyone flexing there jeep out is most likely fully extending there shocks and pulling on the body wich is nit a good thing on shock life. But agreed wouldnt want it near the max at all times.

If your local shop had answered your question in a similar fashion as Nthinuf, I'd say stick with them. They clearly did not so X2 on...Find another shop! Lol good luck!
