Hello all. I recently picked up a 2017 Unlimited and I am looking to add some rock sliders with side steps. As a former TJ guy all of the ones that I am seeing just remind me of the tube steps that were avoided on the trails. I am looking for suggestions for some that will be strong enough to handle some bigger slams on rocks, give as much clearance as possible, and in the $400 price range if possible. these are a couple that i have been looking at, but the mounting scares me a little even though it looks to be pretty much the same for everything!
I think it's going to be hard to find real sliders in that price range. If you are going to go out and beat on them I'd get something frame mounted. The ones that mount to your body mounts and pinch seam will roll up and put a nice dent on the underside of your rocker panel if you end up leaning on one of those. The tubes make them worse as they act as leverage for the applied inward forces.
Is that the jeep in your avatar? it's hard to see what is on there now. You have rocker armor and is that a PSC slider?

Yes, that is the jeep. The rocker armor is just carbon fiber stickers(not added by me) and i am not 100% sure, but i believe that the sliders are rubi rails.
I am open to frame mounted, and potentially spending a bit more, i have been having a hard time when looking as the descriptions leave a bit to be desired. This is not going to be a hard core trail rig by any means, but I want to be ableto slam it on some rocks and not have to worry about it!
Either you want the best and will pay for it, or you're not quite that demanding. Look at the Shrockworks rock sliders if you're willing to pay for the best. They are also US made, not imported Chinese junk ...
Ok, so looks like i need to know if there is a body lift on the jeep. I believe that there is, as I'm pretty sure these are not just the factory spacers. Any idea if the difference is just the bolt on the rock sliders for bl vs no body lift?

I'm not sure exactly what your question is. Shrockworks, if that is what you're asking about, asks if you have a body lift and how much. They will make their rock rails fit either without, with 1" or with 1.25" if the rig has Rubi rock rails. I had a friend with a body-lifted two door Rubi and their rock rails and they fit just fine. Recommend give them a call for further questions you might have ...
I find the Rubi rails ok to slide over rocks. Not sure of your jeeping environment unless you have lots of boulders but mine work fine except they rust like crazy after you scratch them.
Yes, you have a body lift there it appears. That extra puck on top is not factory. That could impact some body-mounted sliders. Some things like rubi rails bolt to the pinch seam and underside of the tub. Other things will bolt up to the underside of those body mounts which would leave a gap between the body and where the slider would typically fall. There are also things like PSC brawler rockers (or similar) that would not be compatible as they mount to rocker armor on the body AND the underside of the body mount bolts. Not many people run body lifts these days. Unless there is some reason you need it, I'd remove it.
