To loop delete or not to loop delete, that is the question.

the exhaust was initially done 2 years ago because after my rear sway bar relocation it was hitting the stock muffler. I removed just the muffler but it sounded awful. So I went to a cat back that dumped under the Jeep. But that vibrates the whole Jeep and I’m sick of it.

Now I decided to go with the Corsa purely for the sound and diameter. Only one with 2.75 inch piping. Their sport muffler has a great sound to it.

The Y pipe is going in for driveshaft clearance. 7 inches of lift in the front, even with an Adams driveshaft I still hit the factory Y pipe.

I bought 2 other Ys and wasn’t impressed with the quality. So I bought the Borla and was trying to decide wether or not to use the delete based on all the reports of lost power. Ended up figuring out that the delete has to be used with their Y. Was just wondering if finally anyone had in fact put one on a dyno since it gets brought up so many times in so many places

From what I’ve seen it’s about 50/50. Some people say they’ve felt no change while others said they lost power. I’ve seen tons of posts on the subject and someone always talks about surprised no one had done a dyno run but I was hoping maybe by now they would. Corsa is actually installing the Y and the cat back for me, maybe I can get them to put it on the dyno before and after, pretty sure they’ll have one

It’s been a while since I’ve learned about why the loop is there so take my knowledge with a grain of salt. I believe the loop is there to keep the length of pipe the same for both driver and passenger sides. This keeps the back pressure and temps consistent on both sides of the engine.

I deleted mine a while ago for a cat back exhaust setup and haven’t seen any ill effects. I will say that I am getting an occasional (and very temporary) cylinder 4 misfire code, I don’t think it’s related though. I only mention this because I cannot 100% rule it out as a potential effect.
