Is Mopar Softop hardware compatible with the Bestop Trektop?
Is Mopar Softop hardware compatible with the Bestop Trektop? I've got a Trektop and I'm interested in replacing the tailgate retainer bar with the Mopar version and maybe the door surrounds too but I want to make sure they would work.
no, the factory uses totally different door surrounds and tailgate bar.
I called Bestop and they said the Trektop is not compatible with OEM hardware but I think they're probably required to say that for liability reasons. Has anybody tried using the tailgate retainer, door surrounds, or windshield channel with the Trektop? The tailgate retainer looks compatible. Does the windshield channel have the same snaps as the OEM version? The door surrounds look the least compatible.

I had a trek top on a two door and didn't really like it. Mine leaked form the windshield channel, had a loud wiping noise when windows were down, and all wasn't a good on and off top. I found out later that they are better for 4 doors then 2 doors. On the two door, once you roll back the top, you need to take the entire top off to get it back on completely.
My JK came with a hard top so I am not sure on the factory soft connects to the WC. The trek top uses a bar and knobs that hold it in place. I hope this helps.

Thanks! One last question, does your Trektop have velcro on the tailgate retainer or a C-shaped channel that you slide the rear window into?
