Ohhhh... That's smart. Weld the tie rod on both ends. Then weld reinforcing bracing from the tie rod back to the axle tube.

As an aircraft guy that consistently works with high nickel alloys, I can see how you think that cryo treatment is beneficial. In nickel alloys/super alloys, cryo treatment can add several hardness points (in HRC scale) and is often necessary to achieve certain material properties. However, I'm a steel guy for a heavy equipment company, a ferrous metallurgist and failure analysis engineer more specifically, and the cryo benefits on your typical vehicle gears is nominal and not worth the cost. The metallurgical benefits of cryo on typical steels would only be noticeable under a microscope, by professionals. So while in theory cryo treatment will harden gears, in reality you can't tell the difference and is a waste of money. Just FYI so you can better allocate your funds. There are a lot of metallurgical myths running around on the forums, this is one of them.
