My JK wont stay in 2,4,6,R after 1in BL

I found a post earlier about this but I can't find it now. I just know after my 1in BL I preety much have to hold it back into these 4 gears. How can I fix this?

Not sure on the JK (mines an auto) but on the TJ's they had a pad around the shifter that could be removed to help. Remove your console and see where the shifter is hitting and go from there. I have seen to where people actually moved there entire console back 1/2-1" to fix this problem on large body lifts.

I just did mine. Here is what you need to do...

1. Pry up on the back of the trim ring inside the jeep (use a small screwdriver wrapped in a rag) around the shifter, there are two clips in the back and in the front are two tabs.. Lift the ring and boot up and you will see the inner boot.

2. Once you have the inner boot in sight, on the back (rearward part) of the boot (where it connects to the body), you will see a lip that sticks up about 3/8" on the outside edge. Cut about 4" of that lip off. (You will see where the shifter makes contact with it in those bottom gears, just cut that area off).

3. Reinstall the outer boot/trim ring.

4. No more popping out of gear.:yup:

That sounds about right...the hole in the floor pan is typically too small after a BL for the shifter to have room to row, so clearancing the part of the hole its hitting on is std procedure.

:D

Was wondering if you could take some pics of the process and post them here. I am having a similar issue in 2nd and 4th, but it isn't popping out on its own... yet.

I will post pics of the whole process in the morning as soon as I can.
