Narrow 34/35" tires for rubi wheels?
 

I want to run some 35" tires on my stock 17" rubi wheels (with spacers & 3" lift) but do not want a 12.5" wide tire. Need the added ground clearance but not a wide tire since I run in the snow and ice a lot. Does any one make a 34" or 35" tire that is 10.5" to 11.5" wide? I like the BFG MT or Wrangler MT but all their tires over 34" are wider than 12". Great for mud but lousy for winter driving.

Not much snow here in TX, but I always heard wide tires are the ticket for snow & ice. I know the guys in Iceland run really wide tires...and they know their ice. :D

Actually wide tires are best on fresh snow, or soft snow. On plowed roads the wider tires bite less as they have less pressure on the ground(contact patch). As if you had big wide 40x17 gumbo mudders you could plow thru the fields like a snowmobile, but take it on an icy parking lot and its sit and spin baby. My ride back in my teens(18 yrs ago) was a 71 chevy 3/4 with 14" lift and the infamous gateway gumbo mudders, 40 x 17 wide. Best mud puppy I had but bad on ice!

Check out Toyo's open country M/T It is like 295/70/17, I think that equates to

The 35x10.5 SSR that Shrockworks mentioned above would be a pretty good option.

Cooper makes their Discoverer STT in a 285/70 which is about 33x11.5...I know you said 34 or 35, but that is all I could find.

That Toyo MT above is a great tire (I have a set for my Superduty)...must be a new size though, I don't see it on their website??

Super Swamper makes a 34x10.50X17 in a LTB. They are also inexpensive I think about $140. I think I am going to try the Teraflex 2.5" Budget boost w/ the shock extensions w/ these same tires.

Thanks for ideas. The SSR in a 35x10.5R17 or the LTB 34x10.5R17 are the ideal size so I'll go look at them. Any one with experience on the quality.

Live in Colorado a drove through the blizzard today. Had almost 3 feet of snow on my street and no plow. Put chains on and went out to test the new jeep. Took several runs at it and required 4low with the lockers to make to a plowed road. Should have snapped some pictures!

As a side note: Had to chain the front since they wouldn't fit the rear. Chains wouldn't clear the upper control arms in the rear. Looks like the stock rubicon tires/wheels need at least 1" spacers.
