Default Need to Add Cargo storage space to JK

We are taking a 3 month trip in the JK 4 door and need to be able to expand our storage capacity. I purchased a "cargo receiver basket" that looked like it would solve the problem, however when it is inserted into the receiver hitch you can no longer open the tailgate so anything inside the jeep will have to be drug out through the doors, very inconvenient. It also won't fold up as it hits the bottom of the spare tire.
A hitch extender would get it past the spare tire but the gate still won't swing open enough, plus with any stuff in the basket, that further complicates things.
We can't use a roof rack because our garage door is too low.
So our best bet is to somehow adapt the basket so it will not hit on the spare tire but yet allow the tailgate to open, at least partially. Every foot of extension decreases the cargo weight by 25% so that is a factor plus ground clearance when we hit the bumps, etc. Hmmm?
Ideas would be appreciated.

You can try one of these with an extended hitch

Default do you have a offset on your rack ?

i dont need to get in and out of my rear door a lot so mine stays on full time i just got the overhead console , i do like it a lot but straps will help keep the bags held up tightly to the bracket and out of your way.if they are full and sag
every bit of storage helps in a 2 door lol i have a large box in back and also large 40 " military duffle bag strapped across the back to toss stuff in as well. The offset really prevents any hits to the rack when in reverse and decending off a hill. i never hit

Do you need the rear seat on the trip? Removing it adds a lot of space inside.

I don't know what you're going to be doing on a 3 month trip but when I use my cargo basket for camping, all my camping gear goes inside the Jeep and anything we may want to access to while traveling like food, drinks, etc, goes in a large cooler put on the rear cargo basket, along with anything else we think we might want easy access to. So you can do a little planning ahead and pack the things you think you're going to need to access on the basket. We also keep a small cooler bag inside with food and drinks if we want to eat a meal while on the road. What else are you having to access while traveling? This seems like something that is easy solvable with a a little planned packing. What am I missing?
