Default Need help deciding SC or axle swap

hey all, i am currently deployed and will have some cash saved when i get back so i figure about 8 grand or so to blow.

I need help deciding whether to regear and sc a 09 Sahara or just replace/rebuild the axles. Mostly daily driver with wheeling in my future. Complete newb to wheelin' but love my Jeep.

My prob is that i have thought about regearing but cant figure out if i wanna do lockers when i regear, which ones to get, or just get the Rippmod SC and save more for the axle rebuild. Thanks for the help

Forget where I work.

I wheeled all around Rapid City in June. You need axles much more than a SC.

All street with an occasional fire road? Gears and SC. If you KNOW you will be offroading a lot more:

PR44 front and a 60 rear, and sell your current axles for whatever you can get for them. They will come with gears and lockers already installed, then start saving again for the SC.

Just my opinion, but it makes more sense to replace that 30 than to fully beef it. And for the rear, after gears and locker and shafts, you are getting real close to the cost of a 60 anyway.

Then again, you didn't mention tire size or transmission?

I have 35s with an AEV 3.5 lift and KM2s. Rapid city has a lot of trails. i am looking forward to get into them but worried about damaging everything. underneath.

If i do the axles, then i would have to change the driveshafts as well right. I know about the front but i wanna do it right.

I looked at the G2 dana 44 with Detroit locker and G2 prorock 60 with detroit. About $5800 for both. Anything else recommended?

I had planned on doing the SC with long tube headers and MBRP exhaust. Which came to $6K

G2 doesn't make a 'JK' D44.

And just noticed where you live. Are you sure you want auto-lockers, especially up front?

Do the Pro Rock 44 unlimited from Dynatrac, we had an 08 Sahara and put the PR 44 in the front with 5:38's chormo shafts, ARB locker, Dynatrac ball joints and loved it. We then just regeard the rear, ARB locker, Chromo shafts for the rear factory 44. All in all it was a great set up, never have to worry about the front again. I think we had 6 grand into the whole set up, that included labor to install everything. You will be much happier regearing the jeep and not having to limp along with the boat anchor POS 30 in the front. Just my two cents.
