Default Need help picking a locker for my non rubi D44 seriously, so many options......

First of all I am trying to put a locker in my non RUBI D44 rear axle on my 08' Sahara. I have gears on the way (4:88's). My driving style with this will be like 90 percent on road and 10% offroad. I am not going to be doing any rock crawling so to say but when I do offroad it I like to get after it a little bit but nothing that is going to have one or two of my tires way off the ground at any point. I have looked at everything from the locrite "lunchbox" style lockers, arb air lockers, ox lockers, auburn ected, Detroit trutrack, etc..... Every time I find one that looks decent I whip up this site or just use google and do a search and there are tons of people bitching about it one way or another. So give me a hand here..... I am looking for new or used and my budget is in the $300-$800 range tops. I was really liking the Auburn Ected for the daily limited slip and full lock with a press of a switch, but once again there are PLENTY of people bitching about that one.

For your needs, get a TrueTrac and be done with it. Actually, you can get truetracs front and rear for about the price of a single rear selectable.

This one has some great info and may fill in some blanks.

What Nthinuf said. U can pick up front and rear trutracs for less than the cost of one ARB plus no compressor to wire in, no air lines, no switches for locker activation, etc.

I'm running TTs front and rear and couldn't be happier. Kids are young so I don't get to wheel as much as I would like but I can tell u these things hookup incredibly well. Do far I have been able to make it where the locked rubis go on the first try.

They probably aren't the best for rock crawling but I don't have that kind of terrain around here.

With 90% on road 10% off road, I'd go ARB!!!!
That way you've got the traction of a spool when you need it off road but an open diff for the street! A selectable locker is the way to go, IMO!

Exactly. Also look at the Aussie locker. Same type as true track and is not a posi locker. Gives 100% locked instead of like 60-80% with a LSD locker type.

I just ordered my Aussie for my D30 yesterday. BTW, everyone is going to bitch about every product. The forum members here and on other forums will be the best place to obtain true, helpful information!

Big fan of ox lockers. I think its the fact of having a lever to pull that makes me like it. Just think if you got 2 ox lockers (front and rear), an atlas 4 speed tc and manual jk. Something about levers turn me on I guess

True trac is an LSD.

ARB, expensive and too many problems.

Ected, same.

Ox, same.

I know the true track is a LSD. I researched it and it does not use a clutch type system so it would seem that it is not prone to wearing out. In my internet searches the only bad thing I can find about it is the fact that is is NOT a locker. It sounds good for the price and since I am not hardcore wheeling it may fit my needs. I just want both rear wheels turning in the event I hit a little mud, ice, or slick roads. I am running 33's right now so I do not think that size tire is too much for a LSD type of setup. If I go bigger tire it will only be a 35 tops. I may run one of the lunchbox type locker in the front as they are invisible until you put it in 4wd. Besides that I don't want to sink a ton of cash into the D30.

isn't the Detroit locker the same type of technology as the lunchbox style lockers that will wear out?

I have a 09 X just put an Eaton electric locker in rear Dana 44. If u shop around u can get it installed for just over a grand, I did. U run open diff till u push the button and u get full locker. So easy and proven everywhere for all types of wheeling.....
