New Mopar 4" lift kit
 

Anyone have any first hand experience with the new 4" mopar lift. i cant find much end user info about it. Worth the money, I see it doesn't use a progressive spring with the kit.

Not the 4", but I have about 1k on the new MOPAR 2" lift (the one w/ the longer driveshaft) and am really pleased with it so far. It rides great (for what it is) on road with my 315/70/17 duratracs with 30 cold psi, and also seems to do really well in moderate off road, aired down to 15 psi. No matter what I'm going over, it manages to keep the body pretty darn level and tires on the ground. Pic is from Tahoe Nat'l Forest near Donner Lake this past Saturday.

do you have different control arms with that lift? How is your caster corrected? Just curious

No, uses the same fixed factory control arms. it has nice drop brackets to locate the axle and let the control arms basically maintain the same stock angle, but with the new height. Caster theoretically stays the same. With regard to camber, the kit comes with adjustment bolts that you install to adjust the camber once you lift the vehicle and get it aligned. A lot of people will bad mouth cam bolts, but they are used in racing applications (on-road race cars) all the time without incident. I am no expert, but my guess is that if you only need a little bit of camber adjustment after a moderate lift, cam bolts are fine, but if you need a lot of adjustment after a larger lift, or you need the ability to make substantial alignment tweaks, adjustable control arms would be the way to go.

Camber is not ajustable on a JK. Caster can be adjusted with control arms, drop brackets, or cam bolts. Don't screw up your axle with cam bolts. You will regret it later.

Thanks for catching that--sorry, all. Caster is adjusted w/ cam bolts on the 2" kit. I think I remember that the 4" kit has different control arms.

I talked to someone last week that had the 4" Mopar lift and he said it was rebranded Teraflex? Don't know if this is true or not.

The 3" Mopar sold for the past couple years was done by Teraflex. I'm told this new 4" is not, but I don't know who the vendor is.

While I may get caster and camber confused from time to time (see previous posts...doh!), I can answer that. When researching the lifts, the product marketing guy at Jeep in Detroit I was dealing with told me that both of the new lifts (the ones just released this year) were designed in-house by Jeep and made (other than the shocks, which are from Fox) by Jeep's own OEMs. They're no longer rebranded TF or Rubicon Express like the old ones.
