Not wanting hydro assist, is there a beefier steering box available?

I am looking at getting a new steering box as mine has play in it now. I can buy another one from mopar, but If there was one that is a little beefier available...I have heard mention of this before but I cannot find it in search now. Any help would be appreciated!

PSC has one. A nice thing about the PSC one is that should you change your mind about hydro assist you'll have a box already tapped for it. Once you had a tapped box hydro assist is only a $300-$500 process.

Cool, I am only ever going to be running 33's....so power assist is not that big a deal for me. thanks for the info!

Don't mean to hijack, but what are the symptoms of a bad steering box? Play in the steering wheel or steering shaft? I'm chasing down some steering related problems currently.

I have a dead spot in my wheel....just not as tight at it used to be..

Sounds good, can you please give an example of a good hydro assist install that falls into that price range?

Do some googling and you'll find some tutorials. A basic hydro assist is just a ram, fittings, and hoses once you have a tapped box. And welding a mount for the ram of course.

Just installed a WTO assist and PS cooler by myself. Plan on a day or so and make sure you have all the parts and tools necessary.

how many miles on your Jeep? Have you checked tierod, draglink, and ball joints? Those will cause loose steering.
