Default Opinions on a CAI

So many ways to go for a CAI and I don't have a clue. Please tell me which route I should go for the following:

1. Most HP gain

2. Easiest to install

3. Best for price to HP ratio (or guestimates)

4. The easiest for maintenence i.e. filter cleaning.

5. Aesthetically, the best looking sitting under the hood.

Thx in advance.

In my opinion, buy it for looks or sound only. Rest is a waist of money IMO.

my honest opinion, dont waste your money on it if you do alot of offroading. CAI allows more air in giving you power in the higher rpms but its robing the power from the low rpms therefore giving you less low end torque. just my

Yep waste of money--more of a tuner thing IMO. You should look into SAI (snorkel air intake)

I would save your money for gears if you want more power. I wouldnt buy a CAI. I think I wasted my money on mine. If you still want to buy one, I promise we wont say, "I told you so."

X2 I have a CAI and it is nice but only for sound and looks. I do not notice any HP with it.

Don't do a CAI if you actually off-road. To much risk of water where you don't want it. Spend the extra dough and get the snorkel!

If you're gonna get one strictly for looks and sound then go for a Trueflow XDI, it looks bad ass under the hood. I had one but got rid of it, the gain in power is absolutely minimal so much so you can hardly notice and it made my engine run rich. I dont think CAI's were meant for JK's, there is no MAF (mass air flow) sensor on a JK and the computer in some cases will over compensate the increased airflow with increased fuel output or in the odd case it will decrease fuel output causing you to run lean. Lots of guys have them and think they're great but alot of us who bought one regret doing so. If you're looking for more power put your $ towards regearing, you cant go wrong that way.
