Painted Top???????
I'm not sure if i would paint the bumper or not. I would like to buy the AEV bumper but i don't want to look like Puff Daddy bought a jeep.....not that there is anything wrong with that, it's just not me. I think i will try the top first and go with all black bumpers, handles, mirrors, ect. and see how that looks. I would also like a black roof rack, something very simple like two rails and a cross member...something like an Extera or similar. what do you guys think. Can anyone play with my picture on my member pics and make the top silver and add black roof rails?

I think it would look good, but you may get trapped into painting more stuff... bumpers, running boards, mirrors, gas cap, tires, seats, trail rated badge... ok I've gone too far.
PS - No matter what, Hummers look like Jeeps. Get it right people.

I have a bright silver JK Unlimited Sahara with a 2" superlift and 33" cooper STT tires on factory wheels. I have a price of 500.00 to smooth and paint the top to match the body from a top notch body shop. I think the painted top looks great. What do you think, what are the pro's and cons? I asked my wife and she said it would look like a Hummer.......she doesn't understand how bad that hurts... I need JK FORUM opinions. Thanks in advance for all of the great ideas. This is a great group!
I could also cheap out on product and prep less and use a really thick filler and do it for far less, but guess what, it wont last as long and wont look as good.
On a related note, what color is your jk? Im kinda basing this on my rescue green, which is a relativly expensive color. Straight black would be much cheaper for instance.
The color is bright silver, the body repair shop has been around for over 30 years, I have used them for the last 15 yrs. I have a company that has 12-15 vehicles and they know me well. I am sure the owner is considering this a favor since this is my new toy. It will be the same paint and filler they would use if i wrecked it and it needed repainting. They will stand behind the job as long as i own it.
if thats the case, then go for it, i think it'll look good.. If you do get a chance, ask em what paint product they use, i wouldnt mind knowing.
one last point. if your top is going to be on and off lots it will get scratched. Doenst matter how well its done. Things get banged up by mysterious forces when off of a vehicle
