Part 2 of many.......
Ok so the build is progressing nicely....today the RK 2.5 Flex lift went on along with the rancho head pipe....TONS OF DROOP now but the driveshaft is now hitting a cross member instead of the exhaust...I was thinking about adding short limiting straps unless you guys have other Ideas...here are a few pics

Does that shock have more room for travel or is it at its limits?
Looking at your pictures it looks like you have plenty of room with your brake lines and your ABS wires to droop even further. You could change your driveshaft so you don't have such a large OD on the driveshaft. Aftermarket driveshafts are much smaller OD and much stronger. If the shock is at its limits you will want to limit your suspension travel anyhow. Allow about 1" of stretch for every 1 foot of limit strap. |
shocks have about an inch left give or take....not sure i understand 1" of stretch...does that mean the strap stretches? sorry for being a noob

You've got a couple of options with Smashboogie's recommendation of a new shaft (smaller diameter than stock) being the best. I've also seen people notch the crossmember there just a bit but remember that it serves a purpose, so removing metal is not ideal (unless you go through the hassle of welding a piece of tube in there to compensate.....again- wayyy too much work when you'll need a shaft anyways down the road).
To the limiting strap- Smashboogie is saying that for every 1' of limiting strap that you need to expect it to stretch an inch. The 12" strap can, under the right circumstances....and potentially time, stretch out to be 13" and losing a coil or blowing a shock is a bad time to find that out. If your shocks are fully extended there then compress it up 1/2" or so and measure from where you intend to mount the strap on both sides and figure up how long it needs to be. Also take into consideration getting some spring retainers if you've got enough droop where you may unseat a coil. Factor that into your limiting strap length too.
