Penny for your thoughts......
So I just upgraded to 315/70r17s so I am in the market for a new spare tire carrier. What is your opinion on which ones are best. I have been looking at all options. Bumper with hinged tire carrier or something like the Rugged Ridge Sartacus HD tire carrier or the Teraflex HD carrier? I can't make my mind up. I just know that I want something that is going to hold up over time.

You can't go wrong with the Teraflex carrier. Everyone has a knock off of that these days it seems, but if I were buying one, I'd get the real deal. I'd prefer that over a bumper mounted carrier.

MorRyde for me- it's hinges, carrier, gate reinforcement, and- it's greaseable so it should last a lifetime. It'll also hold a 37" tire. The gate closes better now than it ever did on factory hinges and it feels more solid as well.

I went Teraflex not long after it was released. (before all the knock-offs started hitting the market, so I haven't kept up with any quality/price dfferences to be found). Never liked big meaty bumpers and carriers, and this TF option was spec'd up to 37's, which was as big as I ever planned on going. It has worked out well for me.

I think the Teraflex carrier is the best looking of them all. It looks like a stock part which is my preferred look. It's pricey but deals can be found if you shop around.
I've had the TF carrier for about 2 years now and it's held up very well. Still looks new.
The RR is a similar design at a lower price. The only real knock on it compared to the TF is that the carrier can't be adjusted up/down and in/out like the TF.
