Default Probably a strange question

Would putting spacers on with stock wheels and tires do any harm? I plan on getting bigger tires eventually and I'll need the spacers but I can't afford the tires right now. My understanding is that the spacers will push the tires a bit farther out to the corners giving me a somewhat more aggressive stance even with stockers. If adding the spacers is a harmless mod, what brand would you suggest?

Do a quick search on Wheel Spacer/s for some recent threads with some good opinions and advice.

General consensus seems to be that they are safe (when properly installed and kept properly torqued) and produce about the same stress as a new wheel with the same backspace.

But, make sure you get the thick ones that bolt to the studs, and then the tires bolt to the spacers. (not the cheap, thin ones where you can't fully thread the bolts back on)

SpiderTrax and TeraFlex are good brands. (whether aluminum or steel is better is debatable). Several other lift/offroad mfg's make spacers, but I haven't seen much feedback on them.

Lots of threads on spacers...
They are pretty controvercial, but most people that run them have no problems.
Also, I think most will agree that Spidertrax are the best.

Most of using spacers have larger tires on stock wheels which can cause higher loads on the axle, bearings and seals mainly due the longer moment arm.

Consequently, using spacers stock size tires will cause LESS stress than larger tires.

Just make sure you get the type of spacers described by Nthinuf!
