Default Pros and Cons: Teraflex Speedbumps

I'm considering this upgrade and looking for advice. Please list why these are a good idea and why they are a bad idea.

Thanks All!

These will make your ride smoother when you hit the bump stop. However inside the canister you will find that it is filled with the same material as the factory yellow bump stop. If you are looking for a very smooth ride you will want to consider a real air bump. King and Fox both make very nice air bumps.

If you plan on high speed over whoops then you will definitely want air bumps.

I have these on my JK. They do smooth out the ride. My rear though seem too tall. I bought mine with my Teraflex 3" lift, and the springs have settled to the point that the there is hardly any space between the jounce bumps and the TF SpeedBump. One thing though is that Teraflex did send me new rear springs for free.

Just keep in mind that the rear ones could be too high and cause ride discomfort if your springs settle too much onto them.

Look into the king, fox, sway a way, profender, or bilstein air bumps, much stronger and are adjustable.
The teraflex speed bumps are just a gimmick.

Right, a gimmick that worked great for Team Savy/Currie in the Everyman Race at KOH, the one that they took first place in. There has been several KOH racers that have used these, with ZERO failures. Just a simple install and then it's time to mash the skinny pedal down. Anyone can install these, no worries about having to find someone with nitrogen that can charge them up.

Just because your bumps was on the first place rig doesn't mean he took first because of your bumps

But since you are here tell us why your bumps are better then the day stars or even better then the stocks

The only thing I can see that makes them better is that you might use a different foam to help absorb and the can helps keeping the foam from expanding or going sideways

TeraFlex SpeedBumps have a Lifetime Warranty on them, You never need to rebuild them. The stock bumps offer very little resistance when compared to the SpeedBumps. The SpeedBumps can take a beating from a KOH Jeep all the way to a normal everyday lifted JK. Some of the rear JK SpeedBumps can be installed in less than 30 mins without any cutting or welding involved. They are a great simple upgrade to help prevent a JK from bottoming out.

LOL. I guess strength and adjustably is not a good thing. I know people that have broken them, you do stand behind them but I would rather have a product that does not break and have to warrantee. King make an easy to install model for the JK as well as a half dozen manufactures custom installs using their cans.

How many non teraflex sponsored KOTH rigs are running them?

You can keep your Kool-aid I prefer options.

IDK.... call me stupid or something, but why in the world would a KOH team take these vs other solutions?

We're talking a sponsored item in almost every case, so the race team shouldn't be out for much, if any.

The N comment is just too funny. Sure, a bottle all setup, is going to cost around three bills, but the adjust ability in the field is extremely nice to have.

And lastly.... some installation headache is going to pay off much more than an easy or 'simple' install.

Personally, I've never ran these bumps, but have a couple of buddies that do. So my opinion means shit here. Never really heard anything bad, but neither does anyone rave. The only opinion I have is that they seem to be over priced for what they are and better tech is available for a few more bones. I think the OP will enjoy these if bought, just should know that there are other options that might be interesting to spend some time researching (search on air and/or hydro bumpstops).

Instead of air bump or these, if I were to do it all over again I bet I would have ORI struts. Simple set up, adjustable, no need for sway bars, limit straps, or bump stops. Simple and light. You would still need to find that dreaded Nitrogen tank and fill kit though so it might be a deal breaker.
