Default PSC Big Bore with LS Swap

I have received differing comments in regards to whether the PSC Big Bore hydro assist will work or fit with a LS swap. Some say yes. Some say no that you have to go back to either a PSC "original" box or a West TX Off-Road box built for a V8.

Anyone with specific experience with this?

I think your best bet is to give MoTech a call. I know that they were (are) doing some installs that have PSC equipment. I think it also depends on the front accessories used on the engine. Some V8 installs keep the JK accessories and that puts the AC compressor pretty close to the steering gearbox.

Robbie at Motech is doing an LS swap for me right now and will be doing the PSC kit...he specifically addressed this during one of our many conversations but I don’t recall whether the big bore fits. All that to say, I’m reiterating what was already said...Robbie will know.

Seams based on some responses I have seen that the "original" PSC not big bore will work. If you happen to remember which PSC system is going in with your LS swap, I would appreciate it if you could let me know. I'm curious and have several questions if you don't mind.

What engine did you end up going with 5.3, 6.0 or 6.2?
Did you take your rig to them or have it trucked there?
What is your rig set up (gears, tires, lift, axles, etc., etc.)?

I will see if I can find out which one but I’m pretty sure he was just going to do the original one on mine. He didn’t see any reason for the big-bore.

I went with the Gen IV 6.2 (L94). I knew I would end up wanting more power eventually no matter which kit I went with so I figured I’d start with the 6.2 in hopes of it being what I want from the start. I drove it down to Motech and dropped it off so I could see the shop, chat with Robbie and test drive different set ups.

I have a ‘13 Rubicon JKU. It’s on a 3.5” Game Changer lift, 37’s, 5.13 gears and factory D44’s. Motech will be installing Fusion 4x4 D60’s, Adams 1350 drive shafts and a PSC kit while its there. I’m still trying to decide whether I’ll stick with 37’s or go to 40’s. If I go to 40’s I’ll go with 4.88 gear. Otherwise, I’ll go 4.56 with the 37’s.

What started as a $17K LS swap is ending up closer to $40K.

So I'll weigh in with answers to your questions as well.

I'm running the 6.0L (L96) with a 6L80E transmission. This is the iron block LS from a truck (including the cathedral intake). It's got amazing grunt down low but won't have the pull that the 6.2 will have when the rpms build. This install retains the variable valve timing which is helpful.

I took my rig to Robbie for the same reasons. I wanted to see the shop and talk to him face to face. My install is from several years ago, before he moved to the new shop. I've been back a couple times for additional upgrades (added the Camaro SS radiator and the newer accessory mount kit he now uses) so I've been to his new shop as well (way nicer and more room).

My rig specs: 37s, 4.88 gears, Atlas 2-speed with 4.3:1 low range, Dana 44s (chrome molley shafts and sleeved on the front, tubes welded to the diff on the rear), 3.5" RK springs (measures 3 1/8 inches of actual lift)

I've got 60,000 miles on my rig at this point and it's been very reliable and LOTS of fun. EDIT - total of 100,000 miles with 60,000 on the LS install
