A quiet commute tire
I'm looking for a quiet commute tire, I only spend about 10% off road, so something that is quiet and will last a long time.

BFG all terrain- keep them rotated and they'll be silent. They're a great commuter tire that may see some light dirt and asphalt.
What makes it a good commuter tire aside from the long life? The lighter weight compared to other tires which translates to good manners and mpg. |
Duratrac will be quiet for about 30-40k miles. I loved those tires until they hit the 40k mark. Were great in all conditions and look good. I put on Yokohama geolander AT tires in August. They are very quiet and get great reviews. They look much more like a street tire compared to duractrac. I love them on the highway. I haven't had a chance to try them in the snow yet.

Give the Nitto Ridge Grappler a look too. Great on road off road manners

Another consideration is the recent redesign of Cooper’s Discovery A/T3. One basic tread design with three types of tire options from their 4S (four seasons), a moderate more robust-ply, and a slightly more aggressive ply with alternating sidewall tread blocks extended. Same pattern with three performance options. my wife thouroughly enjoys her jeeps ride improvement from (new) heavy 35 Toyos , sold and replaced with , now , 33 Duratracs. Just to try something different , on my jeep , though , the CD A/T3s have my full attention. (Currently still running original KM1’s from 2007 with about 12,000 miles). CD A/T3s Reviews appear all positive. Reminds me of the Duratrac with an aggressive design while super quiet and lighter in weight, though with newer technology for gripping the road. I am not a sponsor and do not have theses tires yet. They are on the short list though based on my searching, like you. Best of luck. Let us know your final choice and thoughts.. |
BFG KO2 is also super quiet.

Nitto Ridge Grappler. Best all around hybrid tire to date, my opinion of course. They really check off all the boxes. Great for commuting and capable and ready when you need them to perform.

Another vote for the KO2s. Dead silent in my experience, not too bad offroad either unless you try to feed them a steady diet of mud.

MT MTZs
https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.jk-...8a139631f.jpeg I have had the MT MTZs on my last 5 Wranglers (mud and daily driver) and they are a reasonably quiet tire that is great in the mud and will easily go 40k. They look good, too. |

Mickey MTZ's are not quiet. I have a set in 35" and they make a TON more noise at 15mph (and up) than my 35" KO2's make at any speed. |
