Ran into a problem with RC 2.5 BB
Yesterday I was in the process of intalling my RC BB. I thought it was going to be a breeze but...... In the process of threading my retainer nut for one of he rear spacers (the one that you have to be able to have hands the size of a 2 yr olds and must be able to bend over backwards).....I stripped the darn nut. Right now 3 of 4 are done. I will be taking a trip to buy a nut tap to try to fix the problem nut. Any other suggestions on how to fix the problem.
****If I had it to do over again, I would have paid the extra money for the coil lift. I will post pics hopefully tonight or tomorrow after it is complete. |
Bummer. It always seems that the littlest things are the biggest pain in the @@@!:banghead:

Use CVJoint's method or buy the next smaller size bolt and nut which would be 7/16 in a grade 8. Leave the existing nut on washer and install with the new nut on top of the existing 1/2 nut. The smaller size bolt and nut should work fine.

update
I went to the hardware store. They did not have the nut/washer combo, but I was able to buy separate nuts and washers. I was able to get fairly close sizes to the original. It worked like a charm. I also had an extra set of hands with me. That helped a lot. I did the other 3 wheels alone.
The lift is now complete. Thanks for all the suggestions. I will try to get some pics as soon as the camera charges. |
