RC Lift, Draglink warning!?

I got my RC 2.5" lift kit in the mail yesterday and I'm excited. I sit down to read the instructions and it's mostly turning nuts and bolts. But then I see this...

"IMPORTANT NOTE : The draglink must be adjusted to the center steering wheel BEFORE the vehicle is driven. Failure to do so will cause a computer error in the Jeep’s traction control system. "

I could use a clue. Do I need to worry about this? What does this mean?

It just means you may have to adjust the drag link to center your steering wheel when the wheels are pointed straight ahead. If you don't the stability control thinks you are skidding when you are going straight. I have installed 2 RC 2 1/2 lifts one a BB and one a spring lift. I never needed to adjust the steering. I helped a co worker install a 2 1/2 Terraflex spring lift yesturday morning, the steering wheel is hardly off center at all. That lift gave just over 3 inches.

I had to do it with mine, loosen 2 15mm bolts and rotate the sleeve until the steering wheel is centered, tighten the bolts back up.
there is a write up in the Project JK section.
he reason to do this (if needed): If the steering wheel is not centered, the computer thinks you are in a skid, and the ESP tries to correct it.

I had to do this with my RC 2.5" lift. This is a problem because the traction control system thinks you are skidding and trys to correct. It is not a huge deal, mostly happens on cloverleafs. It is very simple to recenter the wheel. It took me 3 attempts and about 10 minutes to do it and I am not handy at all.

I have the rc 2.5 and have not adjusted the steering yet. A 2 door daily driver and I do wheel with it - lightly, although it's my first Jeep and have no comparison..

To the point: My steering wheel is a little off center, I do mean a little and not sideways or anything and I've had no problems. I may center it at some time so I don't feel like I'm in a shallow turn but it's fine.

You might NOT have to do this, but your steering wheel WILL be slightly turned. Mine is off cerner and I have yet to fix this. It does effect the traction controll, but it won't harm anything. My light hasn't came on yet and we have some sharp turns through the hills of KY.

With that being said. I am going to adjust mine since it's super easy. I just haven't yet since I am super lazy. (can't get my butt off of this forum):rotflmao2:
