Default Rear bumper tire carrier

Hello

I'm a newbie to the forum.

I have a 2011 JK unlimited and it has a factory hitch. I'm looking for a good quality bumper and tire carrier for this new rig and I'm wondering what you guys would recommend?

Do I have to remove the hitch for a good choice?

Pics would be huge!

Also, I live in NH. So if anyone has one for sale.

Thanks guys!

there are only 4 bolts that attach it to the frame rail, no big deal to take off. I am very pleased with the LoD bumper and tire carrier that I have that has the hitch integrated in the bumper. Just my

I just installed a RR HXD rear bumper and tire swing 2 days ago. Got a great deal from David at Northridge. Other forum members gave it good reviews, thats why i got it,,,,,plus it wasnt $1400! The factory hitch stays on with this bumper. The finish looks tough too.

according to the northridge website, it would be $950 for that bumper and tire carrier. The LoD is only $1200. Just sayin'

$1400 was just a number i threw out there...not reference to the LoD (which is a sick looking piece of kit). I went RR as the budget (aka allowance) is SUPER TIGHT.

If you search just about any swing/bumper combo on this forum you will find a review on it. Find one that you like and that you can afford.

You are going to have to do an internet search. When I was looking for a rear bumper I came accross this web site that offered a nice bumper. I do not recall the name of it.

However, I passed on them secondary to the shipping charges as they were from NH.

All I can recall, the name had something to do with cars and nothing to do with Jeeps.

Good luck.

Mountain Off Road Enterprises makes a great bumper/tire carrier that allows connecting the carrier to the tailgate for one-step opening. The weight of the tire is still carried on a traditional pivot spindle. It has a unique Hi-lift jack bracket built in, and a third-brake light in the center of the wheel. It's slightly narrower than the factory flares, so if you change flares the bumper ends won't be sticking out past them. It does wrap the body corners for protection. It's got a built-in hitch which uses the factory attachment holes. Everything fits well with no rattles. It's a lot for the money, looks good and I'd buy it again.

M4M, do you happen to have a picture of how the carrier attaches to the tailgate? Smooth swivel?

Here you go. I forgot to mention the spring-loaded hold-open T-handle thing.
A caveat: if you close the tailgate with the window up, the jack will hit the glass. Scraped my new tint, dammit. So I cut 5" off the bottom of the jack. Problem solved.
