Rear HD sway bar

Hi all

I have a 08 JKU, 4" lifted. It is highly loaded in the back, Internally and AEV bumper with an additional 10 gal tire tank, and a Rhino Pioneer rack which is heavy by itself. When wheeling, if a cross a crack or cross bumps I can sense some serious side to side motion or roll. I'm running on Fox shocks which have been calibrated and are set on 200 PSI. Question is - will the Full Traction HD sway bar help ?

Thx

What does your rear axle geometry look like? Raised track bar mount or just a longer track bar?

Longer ...

Track bar is longer and I have the RE superflex kit with adjustable radius arms

Are you saying that you have an adjustable rear track bar that is set longer than factory, but you do not have a raised track bar bracket? If you do not have a raised bracket, adding one would help improve the roll center. The higher you can raise that axle side track bar mount, the better it's going to feel back there.

I'd look at getting the 1" currie rear sway bar.

We're not talking rocket science here. I don't think your rear track bar is bending/flexing at all. I think we're talking simple geometry like Karls10jk is alluding to, and that's not gonna matter if you have the factory TB, an adjustable TB, or a 3" solid pipe connecting the axle to the frame. If the geometry is not correct, your rollcenter is going to be wonky.

Since you are so heavy Caryt's recommendation of the bigger sway bar is valid but a raised track bar mount on the axle is going to help a lot. The higher and flatter you can get that track bar the better your ride will be and will raise the roll center so you don't have the top heavy side to side motion over rough terrain and it will also reduce the amount your axle shift side to side and front to back during articulation.

Here is my arms at ride height, granted I have a PR80 and custom axle mounts.
As stated you want to check arms for proper adjustment using the correct length link.

Sorry to hyjack but Cary how high does your upper rear axle control arm mount above the centerline of the axle tube?
Are you using the Artec bridge or did RK supply it?

caryt 10-13-2017 01:14 PM

My new PR80?

Its about 9.5" from center of the PR80.
Only parts I used from RK was the 3 custom length Pro Aluminum front arms and 2 front C/O-bypass brackets.
