Sorry for the small cellphone pic, but it's all I have. The pic is of the upper rear shock mount of my brother's 2-door Rubi. He was wheeling today and started hearing some metal on metal rattling from the rear end. After some searching he found the shock eye had slipped off of the bushing on the top of one of his rear shocks. He snapped a pic, sent it to me and asked my thoughts. I'm not sure I've ever seen this before, and I'm a bit at a loss as to how/why this would happen. He says the other side is looking like the shock is starting to slide off the bushing, but it's not all the way off. His lift was installed at the dealer and I'm guessing it's probably a 3" lift. He is running 35's.

Does anyone have any thoughts about why this happened? He is going back to the dealer tomorrow but I'd like to hear some thoughts here (I trust you all a lot more than the dealer).

Thanks in advance for all replies!

I had same issue with mine. JKS makes a part called a bar pin adapter or a bar pin eleminator. I have had 0 issues since installing them.

Sorry to hear what happened. Just curious, does anyone know what causes this. I am wondering if I could have the same issue downroad?

common problem on basic hydro shocks with polyurethane bushings. as mentioned, the jks bpe's are a good fix for this.

Cool. Thanks for the responses. Maybe my brother can get the dealership to put them in since they sold and installed the lift.

So for those inquiring minds who want to know, the dealership said: "that is a common problem with the RE shocks, you need to buy an upgraded part." My brother showed the mechanic the picture I sent him of the JKS bracket and the mechanic said "yep, that's what you need."

Nice, the dealer knows there is a problem with the lift they install which will require additional parts, yet they don't install the parts and won't do so after the fact when the customer calls them out on the problem.

Yup, a 4x4 shop might recognize this common issue and suggest possible fixes but the dealer won't. They put in what you buy and that's it.
