Default Rear track bar relocation bracket?

A while back, maybe a month, a friend installed my Teraflex 2.5" BB. He read the instructions wrong and installed the rear track bar relocation bracket on the front drivers side, where the track bar is bolted. In his defense, the instructions are a little confusing, if you read them fast. Anyway, we will be removing this bracket as soon as my new rear bracket arrives. I am buying a Teraflex bracket, part # 1954777, from a member. I understand that this is better than the one sent with the kit. My question: When we remove the bracket from the front will it change the centering of my front end? It is perfectly in the center now. I realize that the bracket should not be there, but it is centered. Having it in place, have we screwed up anything?

Heck, you might want to contact Teraflex and tell them what conclusions you've come to on mounting the relocation bracket on the front. Manufacturers thrive on customer input to improve their products. That's what sells. You may have stumbled on something here.

I am going to put one on the rear today to try correcting the off center situation there. I guess I'll leave the one on the front until I can talk to Teraflex or get some advice from someone who knows about this. I certainly don't know anything about the do's and don'ts, or the geometry of leaving it on the front. I just don't want to screw up something.
I can't tell that it has done anything as far as bumpsteer or flighty steering. This Jeep is a 2dr. and this flighty steering and bumpsteer are here to stay, I guess.

yes, your axle will shift over as you have a fixed lenght track bar. to correct this, you really should install an adjustable front track bar. regarding the bracket you have on now, worse case scenario, it may have placed enough stress to the factory frame mount to compromise it. after removing the bracket, check the mount carefully for cracks or tears as it is not uncommon for breaks to occur on this mount especially when using a drop bracket that is not reinforced. this just happend to toad recently.

x2 on that, Im not a big fan of brackets like that because they have been known to cause damage to the mounts and I have heard horror stories of brackets ripping mounts off. But I guess its all in how you use your jeep. So definitely check out everything when you take the bracket off

Are you saying that I should definitely take the bracket off of the front? I really only use this Jeep to run around town, short trips, and an occasional mud puddle. I do no hard core off roading. The toughest off road might be a little mud while hunting. I like the front centered, as well as the rear, just for looks. I really don't want to buy adjustable track bars to center, if at all possible. No more stress than I will put on it, do you think I'll be okay leaving the front bracket in place? Thanks for the help....

Exclamation Trust Them....They Know

I purchased the 3" TF kit, a got the Adj. T-bar, along with the Front lower control arms and Upper rear control arms. The T-bar and the lower control arms for the front are necessary for your alignment to be set correctly. You should put the rear relocation bracket where it belongs, if you have two, then sell one. TF builds their systems right, I've been using it for a year now and aside from Diamler poor design I've had no problems.
