Default Regear for towing

Looking for some feedback on a regear specifically for towing. Right now I have a 2011 Rubicon Unlimited manual with stock tires and 4.10 gears. I'm looking for more power for the mountains and strong head winds towing close to max. I'm not interested in a supercharger or going with larger tires. This jeep is my everything rig from daily driving, to towing across the country, to moderate wheeling. I've logged over 10,000 miles towing @ 3300lbs. in every environment in this country from Rocky Mtn NP, to Yosemite, to Michigan's U.P. in the winter. I'm looking at 4.56 or 4.88 wondering if there would a good return on the investment " power gain"? Thanks in advance.

I would say 4.56 would do you just fine, 4.88's I think are overkill for stock tires

I would tend to agree with Phoenix on the 4:56 suggestion. I run 4:88s in mine with 35's and Auto trans here in SE Ohio pulling roughly the same weight as you and I do just fine. No issues at all.

I just re-geared to 4:56 and they rock! I do a lot of camping and pull a travel trailer. I had 3:73's and they were ok. I added a transmission cooler and the gears and what a difference. Seems like I have more pull now and towing the camper is smooth.

Looks like a great camper setup. Would you be able to tell more about the specs on it, and if you added anything special to tow it?

2012 Gulf Stream Ameri-Lite Super Lite 16BHC
Length (ft/m). 18.58 / 5.7
Width (in/mm) 84 / 2133.6
Height (in/mm) 107 / 2717.8
Interior Height (in/mm) 76 / 1930.4
Length (ft/ft) 18
Length (ft/in) 7
Dry Weight (lbs/kg) 2310 / 1047.8
Payload Capacity (lbs/kgs) 970 / 440
Hitch Weight (lbs/kgs) 220 / 99.8

I've added a brake controller and an E2 weight distributing hitch, using the stock receiver. I have OME springs that I forget the numbers on all around and ARB bumper and winch up front. Jeep sits level when fully loaded with camper hooked up. Handles great. Scariest experience towing was crossing the Mackinaw bridge in January with severe cross winds and black ice.
