Relocation Bracket
Same here I leave my brackets on the whole time and then put the mirrors on them when I take the doors off although mine don't look like any of the pictures I have seen so far. I don't know who make them
my mother in law surprised me with them for X-mas. And they didn't come with filler plates so I never can permantly take off my mirrors. Good luck on your decission.

I can see one of the issues you have run into by leaving them on the piller, by the dent from the bracket in your door. Did the wind catch your door and the strap stretch? With the Rugged Ridge brackets, and the mirrors off the doors, the glass would have hit the mirror housing prior to producing a dent. Although it might have broken the window and the mirror.
Although it may look like it, I can assure you there is no dent on the door. The brackets dont come close to hitting the doors. If you leave the mirror in the bracket, the mirror will hit the door.
Rancho makes a tube door that accepts the factory mirror.

IMHO, this is the best available doors off solution available for the 4 door vehicle.
The Element door similarly accepts the factory mirror but is limited to 2 door vehicles (at this time).
