Removing Hard Top Windows?
Has anyone come up with a way to make their hard top windows removable? Just a thought, and once I get a soft top I'll probably try to do it. But curious if it's already been done. The rear window actually looks do-able since it looks like bolts and wires to disconnect. Can I just pull the defroster connections? I don't want to break them.

1. Undo front Freedom tops. 2. Undo the 8 bolts on the inside. 3. Disconnect rear window defrost and fluid connection ( plug fluid connection ) 4. Remove top....:yup: All kidding aside, I'm not sure the windows are removable nor would I try it...But, if I may ask, why do you just want to remove the windows and not the entire top? Sorry buddy - Good luck either way!! |

Being able to remove the windows would be just like zipping out the side and rear windows on a soft top. Pretty simple reason actually...then you wouldn't have to take off the top......if you didn't want too :eek!:

Yes you can take the windows off... All you have to do is:

I agree that having the ability to open the window like a vent would be cool...I just think "removing" the windows would require just as much if not more work than removing the hard top ( Just my opinion ).
Having windows similar to what was found on the Defender 90 would be awesome though ( Don't hold me to this, but I believe Bestop has made this type of design for the TJ's and other earlier models - Might be possible for a later JK release? ) .. http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o...1/defender.jpg |
Yummm.... Defender 90....

I'm with you on that idea, although I would like the side windows to pop out, like a door hinge kind of action. Half of the window would pop out so there would be some kind of wind flow-thru. I SERIOUSLY want to do this and have asked a couple of window places for help but haven't really gotten anywhere. Please keep me posted if you are able to get this going.

ekkkkkkkkkkkk i said it it would make sense to be able to do something like that especially with the freedom panels off even for having air flow in the vent position. if they are sliders then a screen to go in as well so that one could camp out in the back would be great. |
Bestop did make a hardtop for the YJ that had a solid panel with a small slide at the bottom. Haven't heard of plans for the Jk.

I think it would be nice to be able to take the glass windows out and have zip in viynl windows . The back viynl window would zip in a frame so you could flip it open just like the glass one. With the glass out the 2-door hardtop would be light when you take it off.
