If like that, just paint off the piston shaft beyond the rust and paint.

It's just rusting of the welding material.

I have passed this information to R&D. They have contacted the shock manufacturer about this issue. Give one of our Reps a call @ 800-222-7023. They will work on getting a replacement out to you.

I looked at mine today. I only have rust similar to the pictured right at the piston/mount joint. It doesn't extend up the shaft but there is some discoloration about 1/2" up the shaft.

But I have spots of rust all over the front of them from road debris. At some point I'll take them off, clean, and paint them.
