Default Rubicon Axles downgrade

I am planning to replace the axles and diff carriers on my JK 07 Rubicon with regular Dana44 JK axles both rear and front, then use aftermarket lockers (OX, ARB or Detroit)

I was told that it can be done without having to replace the existing Rubicon axle housing tube ....

Have any of you guys done such swap? Will it work???

I have no issues with the electric parts of the existing Rubicon elockers cuase theyy are faulty now, one is already disconnected and no error on the computer whatsoever.

Appreciate your feedback.

I don't understand.

You want to replace your bigger than average Dana 44 front with a piece of crap dana 44 from pre '07. Most will tell you the '06 and below front 44 is as weak if not weaker then a dana 30.

Why not just replace the lockers in the 44's you have now?

May I ask for the reason behind it?

Actually this holds true for the JK D44 also. It uses a D44 ring and pinion just like the TJ D44 front, but it also uses D30 tubes, shafts, knuckles, and bearings. So its not a true D44.

As for the op's question, I totally do not understand what he wants to do. There is no regular front D44 for a JK.

So really all you want to do is swap out the non-functioning e-lockers for some better aftermarket units, and you're asking how to go about it?

My X model has a D44 with out a locker. I think thats what the op is talking about. They want to be able to use an aftermarket locker and wants to know if they can just use the Rubi Axle tubes and put D44 gears and axle shafts. If I'm correct the Rubicon uses a different spline than the X model.

The op said he has rubicon d44's though...this makes no sense to me either. Can you clarify your desire/objective? The rubi front d44 is a hybrid using only a d44 carrier. You should just take out the elocker and put in whichever locker you prefer.

Thank you all for the replies.

And yes the quoted answer here is spot on. That is exactly what am trying to do. My e-Lockers are faulty, and if I simply replace them with OEM the warranty will be for a period of six months only since the whole vehicle is out of warranty.

Now lets not discuss the warranty issue here its a closed topic being an export from the US to the Middle East.

Why I accept the compromise on the strength of the Rubi axles? cause thats the only solution I found so far and the terrain in this part of the globe is absolutely soft sand dunes, no mudding or crawling, hence the upgrade to D60 is out of question due to the added weight and load on the 3.8 stock engine. Additionally, having the Rubi Rock-Track T-case with 4:1 ratio is considered useless here for such terrain.

So back t my main question, how can I have a functional heavy duty lockers in Dana44 Rubi axles. The front axle is already reinforced with gussets on the C's and welded tubes holding it straight, so I prefer not to swap the whole front assembly.

I hope I was able to make my point here.

Thanks in advance for your advice.

You should be able to put a locker in the front, as its a regular 30 spline HP D44 (the center section is anyway). The rear is the main issue, as its the 32 spline unit. In which case, you can swap a non-rubicon D44 in there without any issues. Then you can use the same locker back there as you use in the front if I am not mistaken.
