RuggedRidge 3" Side Steps - any good?

Hey all,
Brand new to the forum and a first time Jeep Wrangler owner! I'm looking to add side steps to my 2012 Sport S and was wondering if anyone has any experience with the 3" round side steps from RuggedRidge(11591.05). Mainly looking for something to make it a little easier for me and my 10 year old to get in/out and with a budget of about $300 these look like a pretty good deal @ under $200.

If you have experience with these or similar RuggedRidge side steps what do you think of them?
Are they quality, or crap?
Are they a pain to install?
How do they look on your JK? Do they look too small?

Thanks!
Steve

I have the stainless steel ones...they are nice but I am going to get rid of them because I want to get a set of black ones

Thanks rdubs. Do you think they look too narrow or are they a good width?

BTW - you can pick up a set of black ones for $158 (shipping included) here

I have a set of 3 inch black on mine. I life them. And they help keep the sides much cleaner, and deflect the rocks. Here's a pic. Ps sorry, but its covered in slush lol.

Depends on if go off road. I put smitty built rock rails on and they have a step built in they cost me 275.00 before Xmas

True. I forgot to mention that. These bars will cost you a tiny bit of clearance. No worries for me, I don't do serious off road.. ..... yet. Still new haha. So if you do lots of off road, you might want to look at rock rails with a step then

How do these mount to the Jeep? Are they hard to mount? I've been thinking about the A.C.E rails but not sure if I like the look. I like the look if these and would be more functional for my needs. I wanted to get something that would provide some protection in case of a side impact in an accident. Appreciate any info. Thanks.

The smitty built rockrails mount to the body mounts with the two small bolts on each side of the center bolt. I have the JKU they are very heavy-duty.
