Default RV Towing of a lifted 2008 JK

Just checking to see if there is any wisdom to share on pulling a 2008 JK with a 3" lift and 35's with a RV. Any recommended tow bars and or hitch adapters to get it level? Just want to have a safe journey.

I have been towing my lifted 07 JK behind a Winnebago Journey for over three years with no difficulty. I use a Blue Ox Aventa tow bar and base plate. The only safety issue is to make sure the Jeep is not higher than the tow bar (it can be up to 4" lower) and if it is use a 4" drop trailer hitch extension turned up. I have seen the results of a towed vehicle climb over the hitch on a panic stop and it wasn't pretty. I also use a Brake Buddy although I really never noticed any difference in stopping without. The first year I was on the factory tires and did not notice any abnormal wear however after I installed mud terrains I did have some scuffing and minimal cupping on the front tires when I towed. Rotate frequently and it will help minimize it.

The driver must have hit something. None of the motorhomes that I have owned could stop quick enough for a Jeep to climb over the tow bar; that would require a serious amount of force.

I second the Blue Ox, just make sure you get the style that does not mount to a ball; get the style that mount directly into the 2" receiver.

Curry makes a nice towing package that replaces the plastic air dam under the front bumper with a solid steel air dam with the mounts welded to it. If you do not get their tow bar, you will need to make an adapter for it to work with the Blue Ox.

your setup will depend on your motorhome style. i have a 40ft diesel pusher and i can tell you if you travel the law in most states is 3000 lbs or more you need a braking device on your vehicle by law.

i use a denco exaliber tow bar with some warrior addapters that i modifided to fit the bar. i hook into the d ring mounts on my lod stubby run the saftey chains and plug into the light connection and a air line for the smi brake controller. i would use cooltech harness for the lights it is simple and much easier than all the diodes and extra lights. you will also need some mis stuff as well.

if you pm me your number i can help you out with a phone call and some info. i spent a good long time deciding what to do and i can't be happier with my setup.

don't screw around with a cheap setup to tow your priceless jeep around and obey the laws or it will cost you in the long run. irv2 has a forum dedicated to towing the jeep and the jk. i would advise you to read it several times. it helped me alot with laws and what works best. you want a adjustable tow bar for easy hookups by yourself.
