Default Side Steps

New to me is a 2014 JKU Sport. I am going to purchase a set of side steps so that it is easier for my wife and kids to get in and out of. I have had 3 inch nerf bars on a previous jeep but want something different this time. I am looking at the Quadratec QRC Side Armor with Step for my 4 door. Does anyone have any experience, observations, or knowledge you can share? Much is appreciated in advance.

Don't have any experience with these, but they appear to be similar to many others on the market. They mount to the body, rather than the frame. This should work perfectly fine as a step, as a proper rock rail maybe not as well as some others. All depends on use.

Happy Jeeping.

I have these Ebay knockoff versions of the Smittybilt XRC side steps. I just like the way they look.

GraBars make it MUCH easier to get in a lifted Jeep. These are rock solid and sooo much better than the OEM soft handles.

I would agree with comments above in general. If you're not going to be using these as sliders up against the rocks, just about anything will work, body or frame mount. If you are really just looking for a step, pick one the one you like the look of the best and roll with it. Price is really gonna be dictated by quality of the material, construction, and finish, but for something functioning just as a step, you can get by with inexpensive. Don't expect them to stand up to rocks like a $900 set of sliders though.....both in what will happen to the rail and the damage it will do to your jeep. I think you could probably find some on eBay that are cheaper....and honestly probably the same quality of Quadratec or Smittybilt. I'd expect almost all of them to be Chinese made.
