has anyone used the smitty built winches, wife just bought me one for my birthday, its a 10,000. are they any good.

Thats a good woman you got there.

There are a ton of threads about winches on this site. The smitty winches are good if you're not hardcore wheelin. If you only need it once or twice a year, they are a great deal for the price.

My gf got me a superwinch lp8500 for my b-day back in may, it was a rusty POS and did not work at all by august. She replaced it with a smittybilt comp 10, I have used it twice with no problems and I like the synthetic rope. IMO the smittybilts are alot better than some of the bigger name winch companies bottom of the line winches (warn excluded)
