One question (not to hijack the thread): Does the tip trim needed for the pre-filter (mentioned in the install PDF) remove your ability to switch to the ram?
i didn't trim mine for that very reason, it just sticks up a little higher.

My mpg went down when I installed mine. One thing I found funny. You have to seal the snorkel to the airbox yet the holes in the airbox don't get filled?

You need to seal those holes in the bottom of the airbox per the instructions.

Well, I have run both a AirRaid CAI system and now a AEV snorkel.

I can honestly say I lost some power verses the CAI vs AEV snorkel running the stock paper filter. However, when I dropped in a AFe non-oil filter in the stock box using my snorkel I got my power back again! I find the Snorkel on warm days runs much better than my CAI as the snorkel would draw in more outside cold air vs the hot engine temps of the CAI system.

I run a ram air system and very happy. I do however turn my ram air around 180 degrees on dusty roads and place my paper airfilter back in. In heavy snow blizzards don't worry about it no issues.

As for deciding to go with the pre-filter or the ram intake you need to kind-of decide what type of terrain that you will primarily be wheeling in. If you plan on going through alot of dusty trails, or sandy locations, then by all means, get the pre-filter/coffee maker. Otherwise get the ram intake. Either way, you can't go wrong.

I have the ram, but I have been meaning to pick up the pre-filter because it is only 86 bucks last time I checked.

No issues either in heavy rains or even touch-less carwashes.
