Going around the lake, instead of through it is not living timidly - its living intelligently. I personally wouldn't bury $30k in the mud and kiss it goodbye, but if that's what "living" is to you, by all means allow me to park over here and pitch a tent to watch the events.

wow, Reductio ad absurdum much? So driving through one or two feet of water is the equivalent of driving through a lake? Dude, I bought my Jeep to go out in the woods and play with my wife and boys and create bonding memories that will last a lifetime. One of the favorite things for my boys is for us to blast through the water and they get doused with a sheet of water in the back seat. I'm not saying that owning a Jeep requires you to do that. But doing so certainly doesn't make us crazy. We bought this highly customizable platform for that very reason, so we could customize it and make it what we want. Maybe you want to make yours lower and put some chrome on it, I don't know, and really couldn't care less. As long as you are doing what you want with your jeep and happy with it, that is fantastic.

I wheel in tight spots so spending 3-500 on a snork that isnt repairable seemed silly so I built this...

Most guys add snorkels "just in case" not to submarine our rigs.

The OP asked about water high enough to ruin the electronics in the dash, that's more than a puddle. And as I said, if that's what you enjoy, please continue. I'm not trying to introduce laws to prevent you. Why does everyone go nuts when someone posts an opinion?

This is the kind of stuff I'm referring to...

My snorkel is just in case. I've gone through mediocre puddles that turned out to be up to the door handles. No damage.

I don't plan on forging lakes or rivers I can go around.

That said. I'm not going to baby my jeep either. If it breaks, I'll have fun doing it. Then fix it.

I did buy a $35,000 JEEP to do crazy stuff with it. If I didn't, I would have purchased something that gets better mileage, holds more cargo and doesn't sound like I'm in an aircraft when I'm on the highway with the soft top up.

Like an fj cruiser or vw crossover

Apology accepted. I think it was the fact that you were alluding to people doing that as being stupid. Sure, that is an opinion, but it can be inflammatory. Hey, I see plenty of things on this forum that have me shaking my head as I would never do it with my daily driver. I become convinced some people here must be independently wealthy and have a felt of vehicles they can afford to damage.
