Default Solution for ICON steering stabilizer

Looking to see if anyone else has ran into my current issue. I recently purchased the ICON (rod through) non adjustable steering stabilizer but I run the 1.75" Rock Krawler tie rod. ICON only offers a clamp up to 1.625" diameter. I have been talking to TMR to see if their 1.75" clamp they make for the FOX (rod through) steering stabilizer will work. I've been unsuccessful trying to get some info from ICON so just wanted to see if anyone else has gotten a solution to this same issue?

Find the thread pitch for the bolt that icon uses, then call a couple shops and ask if they have a 1.75” clamp for your stabilizer bolt.

Here’s a quick search for 1.75” clamps, this may work for you.

I just saw in your post you’re already looking into this one. I’d imagine it would work?

Just looked up the install instructions, the icon bolt is 9/16 x 12 tpi. The tmr clamp is 1/2x20. You can use a 1/2x20 bolt and use a bushing in the stabilizer to take up the slack.

edit: I’m seeing mostly 5/8 to 1/2 reducer bushings. You may get away with using a half inch bolt instead of the 9/16 bolt. Once you tighten it down you probably won’t even notice the 1/16” difference in bolt size. Otherwise, call tmr and ask if they can tap one for you with 9/16x12 for your bolt size.

TMR couldn't help. Says "The tap drill size for 9/16"-12 exceeds 1/2" in diameter...so there's no way to modify one of my clamps". Said best he could do was sell me the 1.75" clamp and then find someone to machine and weld a bung on there to accept the 9/16 x 12. Back to square one

Seems like I've seen a couple weld a nice threaded bung onto a bare clamp. You're opposed to doing that? Seems like the easiest solution IMO.

Not opposed at all, not being talented enough to weld is the issue LOL The biggest thing I could think would be an issue is the overall height of the bung after it is welded to the clamp. I'm sure that was TMR's thoughts when they made the one to accommodate the Fox rod through style stabilizer. The other nice thing about the TMR clamp is that it's ready to go when I am ready to go with hydro steering. Maybe I'll just return the damn ICON one and just purchase the Fox style. Make it easy
