Default Stiff suspension and the effect of extra weight on it.

Will the additional weight of heavy steel bumpers and possibly a winch help at all with lessening the bone-jarring effect of going over bumpy roads with a stiff suspension? I have a pretty stiff suspension and you can feel every little bump in the road. Don't get me wrong though, I still absolutely love driving around in it, bumpy or not, just wondering what effect extra weight would have on the ride quality. Will extra weight help?

I bought the Jeep at the dealership already lifted and with 35"x12.5" Toyo MT's. As far as I can tell, it's a 4" Trailmaster lift...at least that's what it say's on the shock absorbers.

A friend of mine who is pretty knowledgeable with vehicles said it might actually help putting extra weight on it.

They are running at 43psi right now. Is that too high? I never really owned tires this big before. That's what the dealer had them set at.

Just so I know what to expect, will lowering them by 13 - 15 pounds make the tire pressure monitor alarm go off?

I'm no expert but that seems high check the tire it will say somewhere on your sidewall what the psi should be but search around the forum they probably have a thread on tire pressures as most deflate on trails and inflate after

Take a piece of chalk and draw a thick line across your tread.. then drive it around town on a dry paved road..

Then check to see if the chalk line is gone = ideal tire pressure, all the rubber is hitting the road..

If it's just gone in the center of the tread = High Tire Pressure & that will wear just that part of the tire away faster and you will get less mileage on those expensive tires..

I would start the Test at about 30 Psi and go from there.. you may evebn want to try it at what you have now just to see how far you are off
Thanks! I'll give that a try. Will the tire pressure alarm go away on it's own or would I need to reset it somehow?
