Stock Rubicon Shocks on an X?
Quick question everyone. I have an opportunity to buy the stock Rubicon shocks (red body) from a jk-forum.com member to replace the standard shocks on my X. Does anyone know of any reason the mounts and or lengths would interfere with an easy bolt-on swap on an X? Also, are the Rubi shocks any good?
I can buy some Skyjacker Nitro 8000's for about $39.00 each or Rancho RS5000's for about $50.00 each from Quadratec. Any preferences (or warnings) about these shocks?
I have no lift and run the Jeep 17" Moab rims with 255/75R17 tires...also do some (very) light wheeling.
Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

I'd stay away from the Rancho RS5000's. It's built more for a light to mid-size pickup. I know previous owners(myself included) of the TJ, YJ, and CJ say the ride was way to stiff on the lighter Jeeps, giving you some bump steer, and letting you know when you hit any bump in the road. Of course you might find different with the heavier JK Unlimited. HTH
rubi shocks are much better then the stock X model shocks! but you have to remember that the shocks and coils are different between 2 door and 4 door models, and also between the different models, like x and sahara, etc...
I had stock X unlimited coils and shocks, and swapped out the shocks with rubi shocks, and it was like night and day difference, much more stiff and much better handling around turns. my stock X shocks swayed a lot so around turns my jeep felt like it was going to flip, but now with the rubi shocks on, it feels much more stable.

Hey POTO, I'll make sure to stay away from the RS5000's, thanks for the tip. Any info on the Skyjacker Nitro 8000's?
