Superchips Error - Car is dead -HELP
I originated this thread. I got my PCM back today. Installed started right up no CEL. I will drive to work tomorrow and report back. What a debacle. I was one of the first it happened too, so they weren't as quick to just say send in your PCM. I had to try 10 diff things first lol. And being my home computer is a Mac which they are not compatible with it sucked.
that's some good news at least... still out of a vehicle till likely tuesday but knowing they are fixing things is nice
Wow this is painful to read! Years back I had a Superchips tuner for my Durango, and I had a bunch of issue right of the bat with it. Not as extreme as these cases, but still was annoying. Kinda led me away from them for a Jeep tuner. I got the Diablo intune and it has been great so far.
The dealer knows not to mess with my computer without me setting it back to stock first.
Ok got my Jeep back today from the dealer.
First I'll tell you what Superchips said and then what i did. I am the second one on this forum with the dead 2013. Superchips wanted me to send in my both my ECU and the programmer. This is my DD so being down for another week or two was not an option. I did some research on the other jeep forums and found a few more so i will pass along this advice and a summary of what i found.
Superchips said that since I would not send in the ECU and the unit myself to take it to the dealer but the most that they would pay was 300- (um what about the 5k?) to have the ECU re-flashed. As i posted before, i heard you could get your Jeep into Limp mode by clearing the DTCs with another programmer (I used the FlashCal i already had) it cleared all the dtc's and got the engine to start. Once it was running I took it straight to the dealer- on the trip there (very short distance) there were numerous new errors- traction control, no bus, no signal from TPM system or sensor, check engine lights. Once i got it there, i explained that i had been driving it and all kinds of lights and warnings were going off and that it wouldn't start a few times. Based on all the problems i have read here and other forums, voided warranties and the lack of support from Superchips- I SAID NOTHING ABOUT THE FLASHPAQ PROGRAMMER. I did tell them i had a FLASHCAL and i had used it to correct the spedometer so that the mileage was correct for warranty purposes (they actually said they appreciated that).
The verdict was that my computer was totally fried- they were able to see all the DTC's from the short trip in, but unable to reflash and upload, they replaced the ECU and found that the TPMS sensor had failed as well. The only error codes they saw were the ones after I reset them and there was nothing else stored in the ECU that they could read. I had uploaded a tune from the FLASHCAL to get it started and removed the tune before i took it in which appearantly cleared all the Superchips footprints out of the system.
The Dealer replaced the 2 computers the ECU and the TPMS under warranty. I am back up and running. I returned the programmer to 4wheel and let them know It was defective. I avoided getting my VIN Flagged in the Chrysler system and having to pay an arm and a leg or take legal action against Superchips. I will not be buying another Superchips product and there was no way i was plugging another FlashPaQ into my Jeep (they did offer to send me a new one)
I hope this account helps others who have a problem. My vehicle was completely down from the 27th to the 9th. I feel i am extremely lucky to walk from this unscathed,
If anyone has any specific questions, i would be happy to answer them.

This thread now makes me think twice before buying a superchip for my jeep. I was gonna buy but now after reading about a possible fried pcm, I rather not buy it now, i would hate to not have my jeep for a few weeks, thats crazy!
