Swapping shocks... need some help
Hey guys. I'm finally getting around to installing the Rubi take offs I bought a little while back. I got the old rears out and the Rubi rears installed without issues. I can already tell what a difference there is. the stock shocks compressed with very little effort and were very slow to expand back. The Rubi shocks took a lot more effort to get in place. It also looks like I gained some height from the shocks, or my parking space has quite a slope to it....
I figured the fronts would be a little trickier, and I was right. The bottom bolts appear to be very rusted in place, so I applied some wd40 and hopefully that will help with those bolts. The top post bolts are really kicking my ass. How do I get my wrench around that bolt? I cant seem to make any progress up there. Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks guys

I might head out to the store to pick one of those up. I have an 08 too and there appears to be a bit of rust on the original suspension components. It lived in CT for a few years before I got it (according to service records I found in the glove box). I'm going to have pay better attention to these things in the future. I wouldnt mind the post snapping... especially if it makes it easier to get the damn thing out
Thanks for the input!

the write-up im following on project JK says 16mm. I've been using a standard 16mm wrench so far, and I have been considering just going to get a ratcheting wrench. Did you take off the fender flare/liner?

I managed to get the driver's side off and got the top of the Rubi shock installed. Having a hard time getting the bottom of the drivers side to line up with the holes in the mount. Decided to step away from that and attack the passenger side shock. Got the bottom bolt out without too much trouble. The top nut is going to be the end of me, I'm convinced of it. I sprayed it down real good with wd40 again. Gonna kick back with a
and let the wd40 do its thing for a while.
Anybody got any suggestions on how to get this wrapped up? Also, the shocks arent designated left and right are they?

Thanks Nate, that's what I thought (and was afraid of... haha). I'll just keep at it, I'm not going to let these things beat me! I know I am on very uneven pavement. My apartment parking garage has pretty steep slopes for drainage. I've been avoiding jacking the Jeep up and taking the tires off, but I'm getting to the point where I might just have to do it and just put up with my neighbors bitching
Hopefully these Rubi shocks are worth all the work!
