Synthetic oil question
3,000 miles is a Jiffy Lube gimmick. It's a marvelous marketing scheme that has somehow moved its way across the automotive industry.
Especially now, that engine parts are machined to nominal tollerances, wear and tear is a lot better than engines manufactures over 20 years ago, sometime the whole 'every 3,000' came about.
My wife's Beetle (ugh) used synthetic from the factory and they recommend every 10,000 miles for an oil change.
I'm a huge fan of Mobile1. They warranty you engine from breakdown if you stick to their recommended 15,000 miles.
I used the 15,000 and changed every 8,000 or somewhere thereabouts on my '02 WJ (had free oil changes thus far on my JK). If you follow Mobiles warranty guidelines, you'll be set in the event of failure.

filter.
So even from Chrysler direct, they state 8,000 miles or every 6 months and that is with traditional oil blends
