Default Teraflex 2.5 inch lift kit

Hi everyone,

I just recently purchased a new 2013 jk sport. First jeep ever and I absolutely love it. I'm a total newbie to jeep mods so bare with me.

Let me start off my mentioning that 85% of the time I'm commuting between house/school/and work, but on the weekends i get my tires dirty on some back roads and mud holes. I love the way the jks around my area are lifted and jacked up with 35s so im looking to build mine up to that. After extensive of research about lift kits I purchased my very first kit (teraflex 2.5 inch lift kit)! I'm super excited about installing it but I've heard that there is a couple of "most haves" to really get a safe and reliable ride such as front track bars, front swaybars, and control arms?

I really would like to know exactly what I would need to make my ride as safe and reliable as possible with this kit.

Also do I even need to add anything?

Default Need to or want to?

I have the Teraflex 2 1/2" kit and I have had it for three years and about 25,000 miles. It's wonderful. As to the other parts you are questioning I see no need at all to replace them at this time. You have a new Jeep and the stock parts are new so you don't have to. On the other hand if you want to then by all means go for it. I have replaced my trac bar, lower control arms, drag link and tie rod over time too. But mine is a 2008 and I needed to tighten things up a bit. Good luck to you.

It is a basic kit, but has everything you will 'need'. Anything else would be a personal preference.

When you lift, the axles shift to one side and the pinions tilt up. That kit includes a trackbar bracket to recenter the rear axle. If you want to center the front axle, add an adj trackbar. The front pinion tilting up will lower the caster, causing flightier steering. Some are ok with it, some aren't. If you want to adjust the caster, you have several options, all with pro's/con's, so do some reading. (Cam Bolts, Drop Brackets, shorter/longer Fixed control arms, Adjustable control arms).

It has longer rear links, you will move the stock rear links up front, and discard the stock front links.

It has extended bumpstops, and I think those are brakeline extension brackets in the little bag?

So, good as is. Lift it and drive around, then decide if you want to do anything with the caster or center the front axle.

Ill for sure do some reach on the adj caster. Thanks!

And will not having a adj trackbar cause any damage in the long run in the front axle?

I wanna make sure my jeep doesn't brake down during a commute or off-road because of any missing parts :p

Shouldn't cause any damage, lots of people are running that kit without centering the front.

Clearances will vary with tire width and rim choice, so do a little testing once it's lifted to make sure nothing is rubbing/contacting anywhere. With the axle shifted, one tire will be in further than the other, so that one is more likely to rub when turning. Flex it and make sure tires aren't hitting fenders, brakelines aren't stretched too tight, driveshaft isn't hitting crossmember skid, stuff like that. You 'should' be good to go, but never hurts to spend a few minutes making sure.

Ill make sure to inspect everything to have good clearance.

For future purposes any suggestion on a trackbar?
