The directions leave out a bunch of things you need to do to get the rear axle to drop far enough to get the springs out. Such as pulling the plastic clips out of the frame for the wiring so you have slack and pulling the brake line brackets for the same reasons.

There are great write-ups in this forum that guide you step by step from start to finish. They list everything you will need and include everything the manufacturers directions left out. Oh, and they include pictures at every step.
